Tell us a little bit about your childhood and where you grew up.

I was born and raised in Riohacha, Guajira. I had a very happy childhood next to my friends and family, with whom I enjoyed the Caribbean Sea very much.

How did you get into programming?

I liked mathematics and solving problems using logic, which led me to study Systems Engineering at the Universidad del Norte de Barranquilla, where at that time they taught Pascal, Cobol, Assembler among others. Upon graduation, I started working at a software house that developed an ERP with Oracle Forms/Reports and PL/SQL.

How long have you been part of iDempiere?

Since 2007, with GlobalQSS and TrekGlobal I have worked intermittently with iDempiere, Adempiere and even Compiere, participating in the 2007, 2009 and 2019 conferences.

How and why did you get involved with iDempiere?

For work reasons, some implementation projects required developers, and given my previous experience with ERP software and Oracle, I ended up participating in some of these projects.

What is your experience in other OS projects?

Only as a user, for example, Ubuntu, Firefox, PostgreSQL, DBeaver, Git, etc.

Is there something that makes you passionate about open source in general and iDempiere in particular?

About iDempiere I like the possibility of interacting with people from all over the world and learning about different ways of approaching problems. Another thing I like about iDempiere is that it helps me stay up to date as it is always using cutting edge tools.

What does your typical day look like?

Normally my day goes by between work, helping my son, spending time with my family, staying in shape, studying German, teaching Spanish, etc.

How does it feel to win the March 2022 Hero of the month title?

Something unexpected, my recent participation has been mainly to reconnect and learn new things, I have tried to maintain a stable pace, but it is a bit complicated due to the lack of time. Thank you very much for the honour.
